Volunteer help needed over two working weekends 18/19 February and 25/26 February
Dear shareholders and RBBC supporters
An oppertunity to work with fellow sharholders, have a good time and achieve some vital work for the Red Brick Building!
We need your help in two volunteering weekends coming up very soon in February. We need all hands on deck. It does not matter if you are skilled, there are both skilled and unskilled work that needs doing. You will be properly supervised and shown what to do. Some of the work is moving things, getting material in the right place, holding things while other people hammer, hammering things if you're good at that!
The weekends are Saturday Feb 18th, Sunday Feb 19th, Satuday Feb 25th and Sunday Feb 26th. The working day will be from 10am to 4pm. If you have any time on those days PLEASE LET ME KNOW asap.
The task we need so many people for is to help us do the plaster boarding of all the walls and ceilings of the studios and workshops, and of the communal areas like to cafe and exhibition space and meeting rooms. There is so much plaster boarding to do it is quite breathtaking!!! Everything we can do as volunteers helps us to get nearer our task of opening the whole project. We will need some volunteering help in the cafe too.
I will be sending out an updated video of work in progress later this week. PLEASE look on your diary and see what time you can offer. The Red Brick Building needs you!!! We hope it will be fun. The RBBC cafe will be open for hot soups etc.
Help! We need to raise £50,000 by July 2012 to finish the building work in A and B. Come on a tour –each Saturday at 12 noon to see the progress.
Please consider becoming a share holder –minimum share £100. You will have a vote at the AGM when we discuss issues and elect the Red Brick Building Centre Board. Under our constitution this building belongs to the community for ever. But together we have to raise the funds to finish the renovation work. Let us make it work!
If you would like to become a share holder in the Red Brick Building Centre this is your opportunity. Our first share offer in February 2011 raised £105,000, and we gained 180 share holders, nearly all from Glastonbury.
We are now raising a further £70,000. We have new share holders but still need to riase £50,000. This will be used for the extra costs of renovating buildings A and B ready for letting out in April/May 2012.
For dezails of this share offer please press here RBBC Share offer brochure to connect to the share offer brochure. A lower resolution version of the brochure is available here for those with slower download speeds.
When you have read this through you may find the form by pressing here RBBC Share offer form called ‘How to Invest’. This form needs to be printed off and signed and posted with your cheque to the address in Glastonbury on the form. Or if you prefer you can call into the office at the Red Brick Building from Monday to Wednesday 10am to 4pm, and pick up a hard copy of the brochure and the form.

Volunteers Urgently needed for Building Work at the Red Brick Building Centre.
In October, November and December we are looking for a team of volunteers who can help us with the renovation of the Red Brick Building. There will be many different tasks to do, including people who are skilled in carpentry or bricklaying. But we also need unskilled people who can help clear things. Some of this will include manual handling. All work will be supervised by trained builders. All safety clothing will provided. For people able to give a whole day a hot lunch is provided at the RBBC cafe.
If you can give any time please contact the visitors center by email using the contact form on this website or calling 01458550052.
September Update on the project.
Since the first part of the work was completed in early January 2011, many developments have taken place. The new visitors centre has been built by volunteers out of recycled materials, masterminded by Robin, and we have a wonderful mobile cafe on site.
You can see a time-lapse of the visitors center being built here and an image gallery of the process you may see here
This has become a meeting place for the many visitors, shareholders and volunteers who come on a regular basis. We have shown hundreds of people round the Red Brick Building. We have a growing list of businesses, artists and organisations wanting to rent space. The incredible north light that illuminates the top floor excites admiration from everyone. A new community share offer has been launched in September 2011, enabling more local people and businesses to become direct investors in the Red Brick Building Centre
We need more volunteers. Plenty of work of different kinds of work to do. Please contact us or see volunteer page on web site.
